In 2018, a group of libraries, consortia, information organizations, and developers came together to create a new and open approach to library resource sharing systems. From these conversations, Project ReShare was born. ReShare, now actively being tested by libraries in Pennsylvania’s PALCI consortium, is a community-owned, modular resource sharing platform. ReShare will enable libraries and consortia to use modern approaches placing library users at the center, from discovery, to request management and fulfillment. In addition to providing a demonstration of many of the key features of ReShare Returnables 1.2, the presentation will include a discussion of why the Michigan-based Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) became heavily involved in the ReShare initiative. The presentation will also review the ReShare development roadmap as well as provide information on how individual libraries and library consortia can become involved in ReShare.
